Electronic non-adiabatic states

چکیده
A novel treatment of non-adiabatic couplings is proposed. The derivation starts from the long-known, but not well-known, fact that the wave function of the complete system of elctrons and nuclei can be written, without approximation, as a Born-Oppenheimer-type product of a nuclear wavefunction, X(R), and an electronic one, ΦR(r), which depends parametrically on the nuclear configuration R. From the variational principle we deduce formally exact equations for ΦR(r) and X(R). The algebraic structure of the exact nuclear equation coincides with the corresponding one in the adiabatic approximation. The electronic equation, however, contains terms not appearing in the adiabatic case, which couple the electronic and the nuclear wavefunctions and account for the electron-nuclear correlation beyond the Born-Oppenheimer level. It is proposed that these terms can be incorporated using an optimized local effective potential.

Implementation of Single-Qutrit Quantum Gates via Tripod Adiabatic Passage
We proposed and analyzed implementation of the single-qutrit quantum gates based on stimulated Raman adiabatic passage (STIRAP) between magnetic sublevels in atoms coupled by pulsed laser fields. This technique requires only the control of the relative phase of the driving fields but do not involve any dynamical or geometrical phases, which make it independent of the other interaction details: ...
متن کاملModeling and Simulation a Catalytic Fixed Bed Reactor to Produce Ethyl Benzene from Ethanol
Ethyl benzene used increasingly each year is the raw material of producing styrene monomer. This substanceis produced from benzene alkylation with ethylene or ethanol, depending on the availability and cost of rawmaterials. In this study benzene alkylation in the presence of ethanol in a catalytic fixed bed reactor inthree states of isotherm, adiabatic and non-isotherm-non-adiabatic is mathemat...
متن کاملAnalysis of geometric phase effects in the quantum-classical Liouville formalism.
We analyze two approaches to the quantum-classical Liouville (QCL) formalism that differ in the order of two operations: Wigner transformation and projection onto adiabatic electronic states. The analysis is carried out on a two-dimensional linear vibronic model where geometric phase (GP) effects arising from a conical intersection profoundly affect nuclear dynamics. We find that the Wigner-the...

We have recently introduced an efficient semi-empirical non-adiabatic molecular dynamics method for the simulation of charge transfer/transport in molecules and molecular materials, denoted fragment orbital-based surface hopping (FOB-SH) [J. Spencer et al., J. Chem. Phys. 145, 064102 (2016)]. In this method, the charge carrier wavefunction is expanded in a set of charge localized, diabatic elec...
متن کاملPhotodissociation dynamics of HCl in solid Ar: Cage exit, nonadiabatic transitions, and recombination
The photodissociation of HCl in solid Ar is studied by non-adiabatic Molecular Dynamics simulations, based on a surface-hopping treatment of transitions between different electronic states. The relevant 12 potential energy surfaces and the non-adiabatic interactions between them were generated by a Diatomics-in-Molecules ~DIM! approach, which incorporated also spin-orbit coupling. The focus of ...
